This is a performing ensemble made up of Concert C flutes, piccolos, alto flutes, bass flutes and if you are lucky enough to own one, contra-bass flutes. You need to provide your own instrument(s). We welcome adult flutists with varying ability levels - recommended for returning flutists as well as lifelong players. In addition to a final concert, there may be community performances in which you may choose to perform or not. For new participants, plan to meet with the instructor before the first session to determine your performance level and preferred part, music pick-up, and details about the music, class/rehearsals, etc. This is not a traditional class, it is a performing ensemble. You will be more comfortable if you have had time to play through the music ahead of the first class. Students need to have access to e-mail to receive post rehearsal notes, updates on performance opportunities, reminders of music to be rehearsed in the next session and other necessary information. You will need to set aside time to practice outside of class. If you want to work at being a better flutist, this is a fun way to reach your goals.
